We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, but Valley Storm Shelters™ has developed some of the leading technology when it comes to custom storm shelters, and we’ve redefined the word “safe.” Our engineers work hard to make sure that our storm shelters are the safest on the market. We’ve gone above and beyond when it comes to testing, and we know the ins and outs when it comes to staying protected during extreme weather.
Our team knows that the main concern when it comes to aboveground shelters is the risk of anchor and door failure with the high winds. That’s why we set out to create better anchoring technology to make sure that the custom storm shelter you install is fully secure - even in EF-5 tornado! You won’t find a better anchoring system on the market.
Here we go over some of the things we offer to get you a custom shelter that works for your home or office.

Start With Evaluating What You Need
Above Ground Safe Room
Our above ground safe rooms are constructed to withstand 300 mph ground speed winds, which is equivalent to an EF-5 tornado. They are made with the strongest and highest quality materials available. Install them in your garage, outside on their own, or in any room of your house, all we need is a concrete slab.
Each shelter is built using a ¼” steel plate for the walls, the floor, and the door, with reinforced ¾” steel corners and a ½” plate where Hilti anchor bolts go through the shelter and into the concrete. The steel floor we install provides structural support and will eliminate the risk of electrocution. We even include a minimum of three large vents that are strategically located to create natural airflow and include debris protectors so everyone stays safe.
Proprietary CORELOCK™ Anchoring System
If you grew up in a location that sees frequent severe weather, then having a custom storm shelter is really a no brainer. Though many people think that an underground shelter is better during a storm because it feels more out of the wind, there are a lot of risks that come with them. Flooding can occur with underground shelters, and you leave yourself open to snakes, mold, insects, and even entrapment if debris covers the entrance to your shelter.
In 2006, we developed our CORELOCK™ Anchoring System, which effectively eliminates the risks and concerns of traditional aboveground shelters. With this technology, we’re reinventing the industry standard for safety. An anchored shelter can withstand winds in excess of 300 miles per hour and has been tested by the Texas Tech Wind Science and Engineering Research Center. The vault door is over 300 pounds and has a drill-proof/pick-proof deadbolt and a bulletproof peephole.
With this safety system, you really don’t have to worry about anything.
Similar to our above ground custom storm shelters, our panic rooms are great for several reasons. They include our proprietary CORELOCK™ Anchoring System and it includes a safe room that stays secure and safe during the worst weather. Our 310 pound vault doors are pick proof, drill proof, and impenetrable. We even include a bullet resistant peephole so you can stay up to date on what’s happening on the outside.
When you need to feel safe, make sure you’re investing in a storm shelter that actually does it’s job, and we’ve made it possible to stay protected and still get the features you really want.
Valley Storm Shelters™’ Safe Room Doors
You probably already know that the weakest part of any safe room or custom storm shelter is the door. It’s not easy to build a high-quality steel door that can resist things like flying debris AND be easy to open and lock. We’ve spent a lot of time developing something that is safe and efficient and can work for your shelter. You can even purchase a separate door so that you can upgrade the shelter you already have and get that piece of mind that it will stay secure when you need it.
All of our products meet state and national standards so that you rest assured knowing that everything is overbuilt to protect you and the people you love. Here are few specs that make our doors stand out as the best on the market:
