Storm Shelters & A Garage Flush Mount 360

All Valley Storm Shelters™ are constructed using the strongest, highest quality materials available. Our shelters are constructed using:

  • Steel plate walls 1/4″ thick in the floor and door
  • Reinforced 3/4″ steel corners
  • A 4″ structural C channel full steel floor 1/4″ plate (carpeted) to enhance structural support and to prevent electrocution.
  • Two coats of high quality industrial marine enamel
  • Three large vents strategically located to create natural airflow and covered with 1/4″ steel debris protectors
  • Electrical access opening with weather resistant grommet.
  • Doors with hydraulic lifts that can move up to 12,000 lbs of debris

Above Ground Shelter Door

Our above ground tornado shelters come with a 310 lb vault-like door which is one of the strongest doors on the market. Constructed of 1/4″ plate steel with 4″ C channel reinforcement, our door opens to the inside to prevent entrapment and is equipped with a Medeco pick proof and drill proof deadbolt. Securing the door during a storm are three 1 1/4″ stainless steel locking pins that are secured through six solid steel guide blocks and three solid steel receiver blocks. Three heavy-duty barrel hinges with grease fittings ensure ease of operation of the door. A 1″ diameter laminated polycarbonate bullet resistant peephole (1 1/4″ thick) allows visual inspection of the area immediately outside of the door. Nothing and no one is getting through that door without your permission.

Storm Shelter Installation

Installing a tornado cellar is no small feat, but we have the experience necessary to make your shelter hardly noticeable. Call us and we’ll explain our process.

We have an exclusive anchoring system for above ground storm shelters that is comprised of:

  • 24-inch carbon steel Corelock anchors
  • Several 7-inch by ¾-inch Hilti concrete cutting anchors
  • An industrial 2-component anchoring adhesive.

We can put your new above ground shelter anywhere in your home you like. Most people put them inside the garage somewhere. We have a specific way of anchoring our tornado shelters so they don’t shift in the event of a worst-case scenario. All our storm cellars are structurally sound and ready to help you ride out the storm.

When Should I Install A Storm Shelter?

At Valley Storm Shelters, we get that question a lot. The truth is that it all depends upon where you want the shelter to be in your home. We get requests all the time to put a shelter under the stairs, so naturally, it’s easier to install one at this location when the home is being constructed.

For customers that want a tornado shelter located in their garage, the timing of the installation doesn’t matter as much. We can install these any time after the home has been completed.

Storm Shelter Prices

Whenever people ask, “How much does a storm shelter cost”, the answer really lies more in the reason you’re even considering a shelter to begin with. You can’t put a price on your life or the lives of your loved ones. Even though storms create billions of dollars in property damage each year, houses, cars and all of that is replaceable.

When it comes to pricing for tornado shelters, there is a natural difference between an above ground storm shelter and underground storm shelter prices. It all depends upon how difficult it is to install, but our staff can explain more of the process and give you not only an idea of pricing but explain the financing we have available.

Facts About Tornados

According to the National Centers For Environmental Information (NOAA), we had a well above average number of tornados across the United States. Three tornados in 2017 did over a billion dollars in damage. Thirty-four people lost their lives due to these storms. In fact, the deadliest tornado in 2017 was in South Georgia. That storm killed 11 people. We know that we can’t do anything about the storms or the weather, but we know how to prevent fatalities. That’s why we do what we do. Our shelters save lives.

There has been a tornado in every state in the country since they began to record them in 1950, but the states that tend to get the most are Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Florida. In fact, the central part of the United States is often referred to as “tornado alley”.

While some might say that’s a cute nickname, the storms themselves are anything but. With all the damage tornados are capable of doing, we want to help you ensure your safety. Call us and let’s begin planning how you can protect what’s most important.
